STREET TEAM PROMOTIONS - WHY THE INDUSTRY IS LETTING IT DIE (Discussion)
In this new age of the internet we have more rappers, Singers, DJs, Bloggers, Internet Radio Stations, Online Magazines, Mobile Apps, Etc then ever before.. We are constantly bombarded by new ways to get music free, fast & easy. However the biggest money maker in todays music industry is still live performances. You would think that live shows would mean live physical show promotion. However the simpleness of internet promotions has pretty much killed the Street Team Hustle.. However I am a firm believer that it is imperitive to keep a strong presence in the streets. Not everyone is internet friendly. Not everyone runs around checking their Facebook or Instagram feed on their smartphone. So here is a small suggestion.. When you get a budget for your promotions and marketing do not forget to keep the streets happy by moving around.. Ive watched alot of artists grow content with 3,000 views on youtube instead of trying to figure out how you can pack a venue with 3,000 people to perform in front of.
Sure the internet is an important tool of marketing your music. But 10,000 views on youtube does not mean that 10,000 people liked that song or video. When you have a physical presence in the streets you get true fan reaction. You get a feel for what your target market thinks of your project.
So what do you think? Thoughts? Do you agree?
